MOSCOW, Dec 8 (PRIME) -- Fertilizer producer UralChem Group is ready to acquire assets of global grain traders Cargill and Viterra if they decide to leave Russia, Kommersant business daily reported on Thursday citing CEO Dmitry Konyayev’s letter to President Vladimir Putin.
“Large fertilizer producer UralChem is interested in acquiring Russian assets of global grain traders Cargill and Viterra (earlier Glencore Agriculture). CEO Dmitry Konyayev said this in a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin dated November 21,” the daily reported.
According to Konyayev, the companies plan to stop operations in Russia in 2023.
Konyayev asks Putin to order the government commission for control over foreign investment to issue necessary permits to his company and said the issue has been agreed with the Agriculture Ministry.
Kommersant said that Putin answered positively and forwarded the letter to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
Cargill and Viterra have denied the information about their intention to leave the Russian market.
